What Are New Apprenticeships?

The term new apprenticeships refers to both apprenticeships and traineeships. These are employment positions In which you work in your chosen industry while also studying to obtain a formal, nationally recognised qualification in that field.

New apprenticeships offer significant advantages to other employment and education options as you are both studying and gaining industry experience at the same time. As opposed to direct study only you will earn a regular income and upon completion of your new apprenticeship you will not have a study debt (like HECS).

A new apprenticeship lasts between 12 months and 4 years depending on the particular industry and qualification you choose to undertake. If you have experience on your chosen field, you can complete it even quicker.

If you are still at school, you can still make a start on your career by undertaking a school based new apprenticeship.

Gaining your skills as an apprentice or trainee will offer you significant opportunities to develop a successful career across Australia and around the world. Many people who complete such a qualification go on to run their own business and make a fulfilling and rewarding career that may not have been available through either direct study or working alone.
